Publications

Editorial resources for disseminating research and enhancing the documentary heritage

1. The role of publications

Publications are one of the means through which the Cagliari State Archives fulfils its role in disseminating knowledge and promoting the documentary heritage. Through its publishing programme, the Institution makes available the results of historical research, scholarly activity, and cultural initiatives developed or curated over time, contributing to the creation and transmission of historical and archival knowledge.

2. Types of publications

Through the mediation of the Ministry of Culture, the Archives curates and promotes various types of editorial material, including:

  • historical and archival books;
  • catalogues of exhibitions and displays;
  • proceedings of conferences, seminars and study days;
  • scholarly and popular publications relating to archival fonds.

These tools make it possible to contextualise the sources, explore research topics in greater depth and convey to the public the cultural value of the documents preserved.

3. Publications as a tool for enhancement

Editorial activity is not merely descriptive, but an active form of enhancing archival heritage. Publications turn documents into a shared source of knowledge, encouraging the circulation of information and dialogue between the Archives, the scholarly community and citizens. In this way, the Archives strengthens its role as a cultural institution and as a reference point for the study of the institutional, social and economic history of the territory.

4. Consultation and access

The publications of the Cagliari State Archives are made available in different ways, depending on the type of publication and the context in which they were produced. On the dedicated page, you will find the main publications arranged by topic, type and method of consultation or access to the materials.
