The course includes the study of the evolution of handwritten writing in Latin alphabet from the Roman period to Humanism and the birth of the press, with attention to local manifestations and especially to the medieval documentation dating back to the Catalan-Aragonese period of government, preserved at our Institute.
The discipline aims to teach to read the manuscript documents produced in different eras and to learn how to seize the location in the historical-cultural context that has determined the evolution of the forms of the alphabet.
